ROSEHIP Rosa canina infused in sunflower oil.
The hips are a rich source of vitamin C, A, K, thiamine, niacin, riboflavin. Rosehips are excellent for use as a general tonic and serve as a tasty and nutritious treat for animals. During the autumn months my horses and dogs, Lily and Morris love to self select the ruby red hips from the bushes.
During the Second World War the British government encouraged members of the public to forage for rosehips in the countryside and eat them as part of a balanced diet. The country was starved of any fresh fruit due to rationing and rosehips, rich in vitamin C were turned into delicious jams, syrups and when ripe eaten naturally as berries.
In the Autumn I make rosehip syrup to help boost my immune system for the long winter months ahead. Rosehips help support the immune system and animals who are listless and suffering from anaemia.
